Providing Acupuncture Treatment for a Range of Medical Conditions
Traditional Chinese medicine, which includes acupuncture, has been used successfully for the treatment of countless medical conditions, syndromes, and symptoms for more than 2000 years. Acupuncture treatments have been proven effective in treating many different diseases and conditions through numerous clinical studies. At Acupuncture Balanced Health, we will help you explore treatment options, including, but not limited to, acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapies as well as other alternative medicine (CAM) treatments. We will tell you if we think that acupuncture is not a particularly good option for you, and we will do our best to help you find the most appropriate approach to maximize your health.
The conditions for which we consider ourselves to be especially knowledgeable and helpful are listed below:
Insomnia
If you have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, meet with one of our practitioners to find out how acupuncture can help. Insomnia puts you at risk of falling asleep at the wheel or getting hurt on the job. A lack of sleep also interferes with your concentration, memory, and ability to learn new information.
Infertility
Difficulty conceiving occurs for a variety of reasons, from problems with the thyroid gland to too much stress. Acupuncture can help with many of these infertility problems. This treatment increases blood flow to the lining of the uterus, thickening the lining and preparing your body to conceive. Acupuncture may also relieve the symptoms of other causes of infertility.
GI Issues/Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Acupuncture is useful for relieving constipation, diarrhea, nausea, acid reflux, and the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. This treatment has been shown to reduce bloating and other IBS symptoms. We also use herbal medicines to ease pain and relieve gas.
Acute Muscle Problems
Sprains, strains, and other acute muscle injuries cause pain and stiffness. They also make it difficult to move around, limiting your work and recreational activities. Acupuncture eases pain and relieves swelling and inflammation, shortening your recovery time and helping you avoid the potentially harmful side effects of prescription or over-the-counter drugs.
Immune Problems
Your immune system keeps you healthy by fighting off infectious organisms. If you have a weakened immune system, you will not be able to fight bacteria, viruses, and fungi effectively, putting you at risk for developing frequent infections. We can help you with your immune problems by providing acupuncture, recommending dietary changes, and creating customized herbal medicines to treat your symptoms.
Functional Conditions
Functional conditions impair the function of one or more body parts, but those body parts look completely normal when examined or viewed under a microscope. If you have not been able to get relief with traditional treatments, acupuncture can help relieve your pain and improve your quality of life.
Hypertension
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, increases your risk for serious problems ranging from stroke to heart attack. In some people, there is no apparent cause of elevated blood pressure. Other people develop high blood pressure as a complication of another disorder, such as kidney disease or diabetes. Acupuncture lowers blood pressure and helps reduce your risk for complications.
Headaches
We treat sinus headaches, migraines, cluster headaches, tension headaches, and other types of headaches with acupuncture. Each person has different headache triggers, so we will customize your treatment plan based on the frequency and severity of your symptoms.
Back Pain
If you have chronic back pain, you know how hard it is to bend, squat, reach, and perform other activities when your back hurts. Acupuncture relieves pain by triggering the release of endorphins in your brain. The result is less pain and improved mobility.
Chronic Fatigue
Chronic fatigue syndrome is characterized by severe fatigue that has no known cause. The fatigue interferes with normal activities and does not improve with rest. Our practitioners can help you manage your fatigue with acupuncture treatments and herbal medications.
Arthritis
Inflammation of the joints has several different causes. In people with rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system attacks the tissue around the joints. Osteoarthritis is caused by a wearing away of the cartilage that is supposed to cushion your joints. Acupuncture relieves the swelling, pain, stiffness, and redness associated with the many different types of arthritis.
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia causes ongoing pain and fatigue. You may also experience tenderness around certain trigger points in your body. If you have fibromyalgia, we’ll help you manage your symptoms with acupuncture and other treatments.
Living with pain, fatigue, and other symptoms is challenging. If you have one of these disorders, contact Acupuncture Balanced Health to schedule an appointment with one of our skilled practitioners.
